IVF

Infertility is a distressing problem that affects 1 in 6 couples in the UK. Many people find it difficult to conceive and repeated failures lead to them seeking help via an IVF clinic. IVF or ‘In Vitro Fertilisation’ is offered at Harley Street along with other infertility treatments which takes place in a sympathetic and caring environment. The patient’s needs are paramount.

We offer fertility treatment to couples, single women and same sex couples.

We treat every patient as an individual and are committed to finding the best possible solution to your infertility problem. IVF is the most popular form of treatment but there are options such as intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and gamete intra-fallopian transfer (GIFT).

There are additional fertility treatments such as egg and/or sperm donation, pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS), surrogacy and egg freezing. This is accompanied by advice about diet and exercise and stress management. Counselling is also provided.

Infertility

Infertility is a condition where a couple are unable to conceive, often for a variety of reasons. The likelihood of pregnancy decreases as the woman gets older, particularly over the age of 35, and the number of attempts to become pregnant.

A diagnosis of infertility is made when a couple has failed to conceive after two years of unprotected sex.

There are two types of infertility:

  • Primary
  • Secondary

Primary fertility occurs in women who have never had children before.

Secondary infertility occurs when a woman has had a child previously but is unable to conceive again.

Infertility affects both men and women: male infertility occurs in men with a low sperm count or abnormal semen whereas female infertility develops due to problems with ovulation.

Infertility treatment

We provide a comprehensive range of treatments which include information seminars, fertility tests and ultrasound scanning during the actual pregnancy. This scanning is used to check for genetic disorders in the foetus, for example Down’s syndrome. Well Woman checks up are also provided.

IVF treatment is provided along with similar procedures. It is offered as single cycle or a three-cycle package which provides you with a choice of treatment that best suits your individual needs. Many patients opt for the three-cycle IVF package as this often increases their likelihood of a successful pregnancy plus they have more than one chance to do so.

Treatment is provided by highly reputable, experienced IVF specialists and reproductive surgeons who understand the distress infertility can cause. They have international reputations in their field and use the latest methods and techniques to optimise your chance of conceiving.

Our clinics contain their own laboratories and are home to some of the latest equipment and devices used in fertility treatment. Friendly, professional staff are always on hand to ensure that you are relaxed and comfortable during treatment and have everything you need.
