Cosmetic (surgical)

Cosmetic and plastic surgery are popular forms of treatment at Harley Street. We have several clinics which provide top quality treatments, using the latest equipment and techniques and to the highest standards.

Our clinics offer surgical and non-surgical treatments for all types of physical enhancement. These include breast enlargement, tummy tucks, liposuction and dermal fillers to name but a few. In some cases, cosmetic surgery is performed alongside plastic surgery, for example, breast reconstruction following a mastectomy.

What is cosmetic surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is a branch of medicine which is concerned with physical or facial enhancement. The patient undergoes this surgery to improve an aspect of their face or body, for example, a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) which also boosts their confidence and well-being.

The overall aim is to slow down the ageing process and improve your image. The numbers of people undergoing cosmetic surgery is increasing which is due to several reasons such as increased competition for jobs, fear of being side-lined in a youth-orientated culture or being in the public eye on a daily basis.

The difference between cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery is that the former is undertaken for ‘lifestyle’ reasons whereas plastic surgery is performed for reconstructive purposes.

Popular cosmetic procedures

Here is a list of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures:

  • Mammoplasty (breast uplift/augmentation/reduction)
  • Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping)
  • Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
  • Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)
  • Rhytidectomy (face lift)
  • Phalloplasty (penis enlargement)
  • Liposuction

Other procedures include chin, buttock, thigh and eyebrow lifts along with ear reshaping and chin implants.

Cosmetic surgery accreditation

Our surgeons are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).

They also hold membership at the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS): or the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). These are both highly prestigious and well respected organisations with strict criteria for membership.

Treatment process

Our clinics contain the latest equipment and facilities needed for this complex area of treatment. They are staffed by experienced professionals who pride themselves on their expertise and levels of care. Every patient is treated as an individual and is presented with a treatment plan which covers them before, during and after their surgery.

The process starts with an in-depth consultation where you will be presented with a range of options. The risks and benefits of the procedure will be discussed with you as well as the outcome.

Treatment takes place in pleasant, relaxing surroundings with the emphasis on a comfortable, stress-free experience.
